I picked up the article "Roughing It" in the Chicago Sun-Times on August 30, 2009 and I choose the words randomly for making my book “Life”. The words are: simply, real, lonely, enjoying, fabulous, impressive, simple, childhood and roughing. I gave priority to the words childhood and roughing. When I saw them, they felt different, childhood feels warm and roughing feels cold. I wanted to represent this juxtaposition using color, the scale of words, and rhythm. I also wanted to show the emotional sense between the two words. When people look at my book I want to memories from childhood to emerge because when people are children they did not know some bad things. When they grow up they can know what rouging it means. People can think about the period of their lives when they were child when they see my book. |
